Redistricting Process with Senator Mitch Seabaugh

Date/Time:Jul 19, 2011 at 06:30 PM

The Georgia Redistricting Alliance is hosting an information session on the redistricting process in Georgia with State Senator Mitch Seabaugh, Chairman of the Senate Reapportionment & Redistricting Committee, and William Perry, Executive Director of Common Cause Georgia.  This will give information and a Q&A session about the Georgia redistricting process and the Special Session of the Georgia General Assembly, scheduled to begin August 15th.

This will be a non-partisan discussion that will be limited to the process, with no speculation about specific districts or other partisan issues.  (That means leave your Dedicated Democrats t-shirts at home!)  This is an opportunity for the public and the press to ask questions about how the reapportionment process will work leading up to and during the Special Session.

The Georgia Redistricting Alliance is a coalition of non-partisan, open-government organizations such as Common Cause and the League of Women Voters, interested in seeing that the process in Georgia is open, fair and equitable.    The Alliance believes that all citizens should hae a voice in defining their communities - with which we heartily agree.

This forum is free of charge and open to the public.  If you have not been able to attend any of the Reapportionment Committee's hearings this summer, this is an opportunity to get informed about what is going to happen to us one month from now.
