Atlanta Earth Day 2013

Date/Time:Apr 22, 2013 at 08:30 AM

Earth Day is so much more than just another holiday on the calendar. First celebrated on April 22, 1970 – it is a worldwide environmental movement designed to increase awareness, as well as empower individuals and entire communities to take an active role in saving the planet through everything from cleanup days to the passage of important environmental laws. On Tuesday, April 23, 2013, Atlanta will play host to the second annual Atlanta Earth Day Cleanup Challenge. In order for all citizens to continue to enjoy our fair city as a wonderful staycation destination, it’s vital that we work together to plant trees, pick up litter and so much more.

There are also activities going on in Decatur and Atlanta throughout the week, so choose something to take part in - or just go out and clean up that neighborhood lot you've been meaning to do something about!   Take part in this special observance dear to the hearts of all environmentalists, and get some ideas at  http://www.examiner.com/article/take-an-active-role-atlanta-earth-day-2013
